The Arsenal legend linked up with the Springboks captain for a laid-back drive through Langa in Cape Town, sharing smiles, stories and South African culture along the way.

Cape Town, South Africa (13 January 2026) – Two sporting worlds came together in Cape Town when English football icon Ian Wright spent time with Springboks captain Siya Kolisi during a visit to South Africa.

Siya is seen taking the former Arsenal and England striker on a relaxed drive through one of Cape Town’s townships, Langa, offering Ian a firsthand look at everyday life, culture and community. The outing quickly turned into a series of warm interactions, with locals stopping to greet the pair, pose for photographs and have shirts signed.

Ian, who is widely regarded as one of English football’s most beloved figures, soaked in the experience, smiling, chatting with residents and capturing moments. Siya played the perfect host, introducing him to the people and places that form part of South Africa’s rich culture.

One light-hearted comment even joked that Siya might struggle to remain a Liverpool supporter after spending time with an Arsenal legend.

While the two icons come from different sporting codes and continents, the moment highlighted the unifying power of sport and shared respect. Seeing Siya open up a slice of South African life, and Ian embrace it, was a reminder that beyond trophies and titles, sport has a unique ability to bring people together.
