When Paw Prints Rescue opened up about struggling with funds to buy dog food, the community answered with overwhelming generosity, ensuring that every bowl at the animal shelter stays full and every wagging tail stays happy!

Botha’s Hill, South Africa (10 February 2026) – When a community opens its heart, the world becomes a much softer place for the animals who need us most.

This sentiment best captures the collective support shown by the community of Botha’s Hill and its surrounds when Paw Prints Rescue and Rehoming announced they were facing tough times that nearly depleted their dog food reserves.

The organisation openly shared that they lacked sufficient funds to restock their supplies, issuing a call for help to feed the many lovely furbabies in its care. The urgent plea did not go unheard but was met with an outpouring of love, support, and bags of adult dog food!

As of Sunday, Paw Prints Rescue and Rehoming received approximately 20 bags of food along with a generous donation of organ mince, which will do wonders for the 85 dogs they care for. Overcome with gratitude, the team thanked its supporters for stepping up in a time of great need, as they work to settle outstanding vet bills and more.

“Every one of you are absolute angels, we couldn’t be more thankful to all of you who donated. We are constantly struggling for food, so if you ever have the capability to then please continue to donate, it is so deeply appreciated,” the team shared.

As a pro-life animal rescue organisation, Paw Prints’ objective is to rescue and support animals in distress by involving different role players in the community and to rehabilitate them, with the intention of re-homing them in suitable permanent homes.

It is no easy undertaking, especially during the current financial difficulties, but these heroes are not ones to turn away any animal in need.

“We wouldn’t change our choices because every dog deserves a chance at life and rehabilitation, but it is still hard, and we still want the best for all our other doggies. Thank you all so much for your help – past, present, and future. We wouldn’t be able to do this without you all.”
