A handmade matchstick truck inspired by SPAR deliveries is turning heads at Courtside SPAR, as the store celebrates local creativity.

Mbombela, South Africa (24 March 2026) – Shoppers at Courtside SPAR have been doing double takes lately. This is all thanks to a striking handmade truck that’s capturing attention.

The store recently shone a spotlight on a local artist whose incredible handmade truck, crafted entirely from matchsticks, has been turning heads. The detailed piece is inspired by the familiar SPAR delivery trucks seen on South African roads.

It’s really hard to miss that sense of realism. From the structure of the truck to the carefully recreated branding. SPAR highlights the importance of supporting local makers.

“There’s something truly special about a community that creates with heart and hands.”

The initiative forms part of a broader effort to celebrate everyday creativity within the community. It’s about recognising the people who turn simple ideas into something meaningful.

“We admire the makers, the creators, the dreamers. The ones turning simple ideas into beautiful works of art.”

Moments like this show how much talent exists right in our communities.
