As families face the emotional and financial strain of childhood cancer treatment, CHOC’s food parcel programme is helping ensure caregivers still have access to basic nutrition while focusing on their children’s recovery.

South Africa (30 April 2026) – For many families, a childhood cancer diagnosis changes far more than daily routines. Alongside the emotional weight of hospital visits, treatment plans and uncertainty, many parents also face growing financial pressure while trying to care for their children.

That is where CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa continues to make a difference through its food parcel support programme, helping families who are often stretched beyond their limits during treatment journeys.

Long hospital stays, transport costs and time away from work can place enormous strain on households, making even basic groceries difficult to afford. Through its food parcels, CHOC helps ensure that families still have access to essential nutrition while focusing on what matters most.

Alongside practical assistance, the organisation also provides psychosocial and emotional support to help families navigate the challenges. Its work also focuses on creating awareness around early detection, while helping to make the journey less overwhelming for families facing childhood cancer.

As the need for support continues, CHOC is encouraging the public to assist where possible, whether through donations, partnerships or helping spread awareness.
