Rugby Greats to Gather in Gqeberha for Special Madibaz Fundraising Dinner

A special Madibaz fundraising dinner will bring together rugby legends, current stars and influential figures for an evening of stories, reflection and inspiration.

Gqeberha, South Africa (18 June 2026) – Some of South African rugby’s most respected names will come together in Gqeberha today (18 June 2026) for a unique evening celebrating the game’s rich history while helping invest in its future.

The Past to Present fundraising dinner, hosted by the Madibaz Rugby Club, will bring together former Springboks, coaches, administrators and members of the current national setup for a night of storytelling, reflection and inspiration.

The event takes place just two days before the Springboks face the Barbarians in Gqeberha, adding to the excitement surrounding what promises to be a memorable week for rugby supporters in the city.

Madibaz Rugby manager James Jobo said guests can look forward to hearing firsthand accounts from some of the people who have helped shape South African rugby over the years.

“There will be firsthand accounts of World Cup success, coaching excellence, leadership challenges and the sacrifices required to compete at the highest level.”

Among the guests set to take part in the panel discussions is Rugby World Cup winner Steven Kitshoff. The evening will focus on the values that have defined South African rugby across generations, including leadership, teamwork, resilience and national pride.
