Cape Town’s favourite feel-good art fundraiser is back, and this year, TEARS rescue dogs will be switching their paws into paintbrush mode!

Cape Town, South Africa (15 July 2026) – Every painting at this exhibition tells a very special story about second chances. Some spent years gathering dust before being picked up from a TEARS charity shop and transformed into something new and incredible by a local artist. Others will be created by seven very good rescue dogs, who will happily stomp across forgotten artworks with paint-covered paws.

Together, they’ll all help raise funds for TEARS Animal Rescue.

The annual RePAWposed TEARS Art Exhibition and Auction, hosted by Noordhoek Art Point Gallery, has become an annual feel-good charity art event that Capetonians mark on the calendar every year.

The concept is for artists and members of the public to choose pre-loved paintings from TEARS charity shops and give them a whole new look and vibe. The old artwork becomes part of something new, and every sale helps animals still waiting for their forever families. Second chances for everyone!

This year, around 40 transformed artworks will line the gallery walls. Plus, a few special guest artists…

Patra, Bullet, Demi and Evalyn, along with puppies Lady Freckleton, Lady Wigglebutt and Bear, will all be on painting duty under the watchful eye of artist and gallery owner Aimee Kruger. With their paws in paintbrush mode, they created colourful abstract artworks that will also be auctioned alongside the rest of the exhibition.

Over the years, RePAWposed has raised more than R50,000 annually for TEARS, helping fund the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of animals across the Cape. This year, organisers are hoping to push that total beyond R60,000, with every bid helping more dogs and cats get the care they deserve!

The exhibition runs from 25 to 31 July, with the live auction taking place on Friday, 31 July, from 6pm at Noordhoek Art Point Gallery. Entry is free, and bidding is open both in person and by phone.

If you’ve been looking for an excuse to buy art that comes with a wonderful story, this is it. You could go home with a one-of-a-kind piece, help change an animal’s life and, if luck is on your side, even own a painting created by a very good dog.
