Batches of lovingly baked cupcakes sold at Hillcrest Primary School were transformed into warmth and comfort for the dedicated hands that keep the school running smoothly every day.
Hillcrest, South Africa (31 July 2026) – What’s better than a tasty sweet treat? One that does so much more than simply satisfy a sweet tooth! The Hillcrest Primary School community enjoyed exactly that at their recent Cupcake Fundraiser at the end of Term 2.
The sale was held in support of the school’s hardworking General Assistants, the dedicated team that keeps the grounds immaculate, classrooms clean, and the corridors, offices, and ablutions in tip-top shape.
Thanks to the incredible support of everyone who purchased a cupcake, an amazing R7,300 was raised for the General Assistants’ accommodation! With these funds, the school was able to purchase cosy comforters, bedside lamps, small rugs, and a few extra special touches to create a warm and welcoming space for them.
“We are so excited to share that our GA’s have now settled into their newly refreshed rooms and have had the opportunity to decorate and make them feel like home,” Hillcrest Primary School said.
The co-educational state school strives to prepare young people to become well-balanced and contributing citizens of the world. Through purpose-driven initiatives like this, students learn to look beyond themselves, discovering the joy of giving back and serving causes greater than their own.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to every family who bought a cupcake, donated and supported this initiative.
