Cluny Animal Trust hoped to raise enough money for 1000 dog collars. Thanks to an incredible community, 1440 collars have been bought for township dogs!
Clarens, Free State (06 August 2026) – The organisation’s Clarens Collar Campaign raffle sold out in just 12 days and raised an incredible R25,000.
“We set out with a simple goal: raise R25,000 using our Clarens Collar Campaign Raffle to get 1000 collars onto the dogs in the communities we work in.” the organisation shared with its community. “And you absolutely blew us away. We raised the money and sold all the raffle tickets in just 12 days and yesterday, Allan (Imogen’s husband) went all the way to Jozi and back to spend the money and get the collars, and we found out exactly how far the money would go…1,440 collars!”
Collars play as important a role as vaccinations and sterilisation do for all pets. A collar can help reunite lost dogs with owners in townships – especially those who do not have their four-legged friends microchipped. It can also encourage responsible ownership, make vaccinations easier to track and sometimes even reduce the likelihood of cruelty because a collared dog is recognised as loved and cared for.
The campaign’s success also means the remaining R5000 won’t sit idle; it’ll all go directly towards Cluny’s ongoing work in reaching animals that need them most.
“This is what happens when a community gets behind a cause,” the team shared.
Cluny’s good news extends beyond its collar initiative. Just recently, the organisation had broken ground on its new isolation ward for sick animals. The build was made possible by the Polar Bear Plunge fundraiser, which exceeded expectations!
“We’re thrilled to tell you that the roof is on, and our isolation ward is really starting to come to life! What was once an empty patch of ground is rapidly becoming a facility that will help us provide safer, better care for sick and vulnerable animals across the eastern Free State.” Cluny shared.
