What’s better than a market? A market where you can pet dogs!

Johannesburg, South Africa (20 August 2026) – This October, Woodrock Animal Rescue will bring its much-anticipated Market and Adoption Day to the Fourways Crossing Bark Park!

The family-friendly event invites residents to spend the morning browsing local stalls and meeting some of Woodrock’s wonderful rescue dogs who are still waiting for families of their own.

Visitors can expect pet supplies, lifestyle products, gifts, home décor, artisan food, fashion and handmade goods at the market. It is a lovely opportunity to support small local businesses while also doing something good for animals in need.

Adoption days give rescue dogs a chance to step outisde the shelter environment, meet new people and, hopefully, catch the eye of someone who could offer them a loving home. Of course, not everyone who attends will be ready to adopt, but that does not mean the support goes unnoticed.

Even just spending time with the dogs, sharing their stories or telling a friend about the event could help bring them one step closer to finding their people. Plus, there is no better pick-me-up than being surrounded by a whole lot of happy pups!

The Woodrock bakkie will also be there, ready to be filled with much-needed donations for the animals in the organisation’s care.

Rescue organisations work hard to keep every belly full and make sure the dogs and cats in their care have everything they need while they wait for their new beginnings. Every contribution, whether it is a bag of food, an old towel or a bottle of cleaning supplies, helps ease some of the daily costs involved in caring for them.

Anyone who would like to support Woodrock is encouraged to bring along any of the following items:

  • Dog or cat food, including wet food
  • Blankets and towels
  • Leashes and collars
  • Cleaning supplies and bin bags
  • Grooming supplies

Of course, the highlight of the day will be meeting Woodrock’s rescue doggies. Even if you are not ready to adopt, pop in for a cuddle, fill the bakkie if you can and help give some deserving dogs a little extra love.

Who knows? You may even leave having found your new best friend!
