Meowzers! Sharon has sponsored a feral cat colony in Lanseria with a brand-new pozzie.
Lanseria, South Africa (22 September 2026) – A new safe space where feral kitties can eat and catch a nap!
On Sunday, Lanseria Ferals shared its gratitude for animal-lover Sharon Margon, who kindly sponsored the funds needed to kit out the feral cats of Lanseria Corporate Estate with a brand-new feeder/sleeper.
This comes after a call was put out by the NPO earlier this month, after a local (human) feeder removed the colony’s existing food and water stations, in protest of the TNR programme Lanseria Ferals had started within the colony.
It is important to understand that sterilising feral cats is the only effective and humane way to manage feral cat populations. Without intervention, a small colony can grow very quickly as cats continue to breed, leaving more kittens vulnerable to hunger, illness, injury and difficult lives on the streets. Sterilisation prevents unwanted litters and can also reduce behaviours linked to mating, like fighting and roaming and loud.
So when the local human feeder disagreed with this method, Lanseria Ferals put out a call to its community for help – and its supporters answered!

Further donations have also covered food and vet bills for the colony.
A feeder/sleeper is a small, protected station that gives feral cats a reliable place to eat and somewhere sheltered to rest. The ‘feeder’ section keeps food and fresh water off the ground and protected from rain, dirt and other animals – because hadedas LOVE stealing cat food when they get the chance!

When sterilised cats have food, water and shelter available in one place, they have less reason to wander or run into trouble.
Lanseria Ferals has run TNR projects for close to seven years in the area. The NPO also feeds feral colonies and assists with veterinary care for feral cats in need.
