This SA school choir is raising funds to get to the World Choir Games in Austria next year. This performance should be their golden ticket there!
KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa (22 September 2026) – The young choir of Empangeni High School (EHS) was recently joined by its concert band and the little learners of Grantham Park Primary Choir for a group rendition of Signo di Volare, by Grammy-winning composer Christopher Tin.
Their performance was spellbindingly beautiful. Watch below!
The performance – which has gained more than 14,000 views on Facebook – forms part of EHS’ fundraising efforts, as the school prepares to send its choir to the ‘Olympics of Choirs’.
After being crowned SASCE Champ of Champs Winners this year, the school choir was officially invited to represent South Africa at the World Choir Games in Austria next year! This is the world’s largest international choral competition.
“Our talented learners have earned an incredible opportunity to take their voices to the international stage — and now, we need your support to make this dream a reality.” the high school shared.
However, the costs of travel, accommodation, visas and participation fees add up to millions. In order to make it to the world stage, the choir is using its powerful voice to raise the funds needed.
