What began as a lonely life on the streets of Kwazakhele has ended in pure warmth and comfort, as a once-stranded kitten found her forever home in the arms of a kind stranger who saved her.
Gqeberha, South Africa (30 September 2026) – When a man named Anele happened to notice a kitten stranded on the streets of Kwazakhele in Gqeberha, we’re almost certain he never imagined his compassionate response to it would melt hearts everywhere.
Realising the kitten was unwell and not safe, Anele picked up the little girl and rushed her to Newton Park Animal Hospital. Upon arrival, the attending veterinarian found that the kitten had biliary issues and admitted her, where she spent two nights in hospital.
According to the animal hospital, Anele faithfully came to visit the kitten every day.
“One of his first questions was how to prevent her from getting kittens, because ‘he is not ready to be a grand-daddy’,” the team shared humorously.
Once in the clear, Anele returned home with his new, little companion, affectionately named ‘Baba’. When the kitten was due for a check-up a week later, he phoned the hospital in a panic to let them know that the roads from his house were flooded and he couldn’t make the appointment.
However, the doting cat dad was at the door first thing the next morning for her appointment.
“She was so loving and full of life, having doubled in weight,” the Newton Park team shared delightfully.
They couldn’t help but marvel at their sweet bond, in awe of how a kitten, once wandering the township streets all alone, had found a devoted owner whose only wish was to ensure she was okay.
“She [Baba] sleeps on his head and seems to have taken over his house. These actions may not mean much to the outside world, but to us it remains a privilege to witness the bond between them.”
