A picture is worth a thousand words, and this one speaks volumes! When two pupils noticed a classmate navigating a busy schoolyard on crutches, they stepped in to support her – showing the kind of friendship and compassion the world could use more of.
Gqeberha, South Africa (23 October 2026) – The saying “a picture is worth a thousand words” could not be more fitting for a photograph shared by Parsons Hill Primary School on social media this week.
Posted on Facebook on Wednesday, the image shows a pupil on crutches walking through a busy schoolyard, supported on either side by two friends.
While little is known about the children, the pupil’s injury or where they were heading, what is unmistakable, however, is the kindness and empathy shown by the caring boy on the right and the helpful girl on the left. Having noticed that the injured pupil was struggling to get around, they chose to walk beside her and help her through the bustling school grounds.
The moment instantly resonated with people online and reflected the values of a school that strives to nurture kindness and teach children to care for others.
“At our school, we believe that education goes beyond the classroom. It’s about teaching our learners to care for one another, show kindness, offer a helping hand and be the kind of friend who stands by your side when you need it most. Because being a good friend means walking beside someone, supporting them and reminding them that they are never alone,” Parsons Hill Primary School shared in the post.
The three children demonstrated that message simply yet so beautifully.

The post quickly captured hearts online, with many people giving praise to both the pupils and the school.
One commenter shared a particularly touching example of the school’s caring culture:
“I live very close to the school. I will never forget the day my son and I arrived home, opened the gate and discovered that the car refused to move an inch. Grade 7 boys and girls ran over to help him push it into the yard while I supervised the bags and made sure everyone was safe. They refused to walk past without helping. I am a social worker at St Teresa and St James in Schauderville. Humanity and compassion are definitely cultivated by the school and parents.”
These are the moments Good Things Guy will always celebrate. Well done to the children whose act of kindness not only brightened our timelines, but reminded us that stopping to help and show compassion truly matters.
