240 lives have been changed for the better thanks to three incredible days of hard work, compassion, and community love with the Angel Project.

Matzikama, South Africa (26 October 2026) – Operating in rural areas where access to veterinary care can be limited, the team behind the Angel Project is dedicated to uplifting vulnerable animals in the Matzikama region and supporting the pet owners who love them.

They work tirelessly to provide spaying, neutering, vaccinations, emergency treatments, and food for dogs and cats in underprivileged households, ensuring pets can stay safe, healthy, and cared for right at home alongside their families.

Their recent three-day sterilisation drive, where 240 animals were successfully spayed and neutered in just three days, marked a record milestone for animal welfare.

In rural areas, a single unsterilised animal can contribute to dozens of unwanted offspring, often leading to overpopulation, widespread neglect, disease, and overcrowded shelters. However, thanks to the success of its latest outreach – which was also the third mass sterilisation in 11 months – the Angel Project has significantly helped prevent thousands of potential stray births down the line, easing the strain on local resources while giving these dogs and cats longer, healthier, and happier lives with their families.

As part of celebrating this success, the Angel Project acknowledged the incredible village it took to make it all possible. In a recent social media post, the organisation’s Founder Janine Storman-van Zyl thanked the many sponsors, partners, volunteers and organisations that came on board.

From the anonymous donor who generously sponsored the sterilisation of all 240 animals to those who provided meals, funds, equipment, accommodation and gifts for volunteers and pets, as well as the people who showed up for many long hours every day – the Angel Project poured its heart out to every contributor to the drive.

Efforts big and small have made a positive difference in the lives of 240 animals and their families, replacing potential hardship with support and hope.
