Door of Hope cares for abandoned babies, and with the Festive Season around the corner, they are raising funds and collecting donations to carry them through.
Johannesburg, South Africa – Door of Hope takes in abandoned babies in the Johannesburg area. They have ‘baby bins’ where people can safely leave unwanted babies; this option is much safer than the alternative. Babies are also brought to them from police stations and hospitals. On average, they get nine new babies every month.
Their most significant expense is nappies and formula. Any parent will be able to confirm these items are excessively expensive. Recently on their Facebook page, they requested funding assistance to help them purchase enough formula to last through the busy Festive Season and New Year.
They only feed the babies NAN formula because it has the most benefits for babies.
Why do we use Nan if it is more expensive than Lactogen ?
Both are from Nestle and equally good. The difference is NAN is BIFIDOGENIC, it means it promote growth of gut flora which helps in immunity development. Nan is a more highly engineered formula to make it similar to mother’s milk in terms of the whey and casein protein balance.
Their post was very popular, and within less than 19 hours, they were able to purchase enough formula thanks to donations received.
“A super large THANK YOU to all the donations we received to buy formula. This morning we went online and managed to purchase 75 TINS of formula. Bless you all. We will make it through to the New Year!!”
The battle is an ongoing one where they can run low on one thing or another at any given moment.
The organisation started a crowdfund, and people have been so generous that they are just 55k away from their target. If you want to make a donation, you can do so here or donate on their website here. If you would like to make physical donations, you can contact the organisation on their Facebook page.
