Where has all the time gone? It feels like just the other day we were sitting in the car singing “P p p poker face, p p p poker face”. These are 10 songs that turn 10 in 2018 just in time for “Throwback Thursday” tomorrow.
We wanted to do something fun for today and decided to see which songs were turning 10-years old this year. It was all inspired by the recent announcement that Katy Perry would be coming to South Africa. We realised the song that shot her into fame was also turning 10 and it sparked the idea of finding more.
So here are 10 songs that are turning 10 in 2018. Just note that while the music videos came out later, these songs were originally released in 2008. Lastly, we can’t be held responsible if you find yourself singing these throughout the day.
Single Ladies – Beyoncé
This song was extremely popular and still is today! It is played at so many weddings and doesn’t only draw the single ladies to the dance floor. It is really popular for its fun dance and we have seen many videos of people doing the dance.
Viva la Vida – Coldplay
Calling all Coldplay fans. This goodie will definitely get your foot tapping.
Poker Face – Lady Gaga
Poker Face is one of the best selling singles of all time! It was one of the first songs that put her on the map.
Love Story – Taylor Swift
While the old Taylor is dead (according to the new Taylor Swift), we still like to look back on her early works and remember that love pretty great.
I Kissed a Girl – Katy Perry
American Boy – Estelle
This song is such a feel good one, the second we hit play we wanted to get up and dance along. This features Kanye West (before Kim). It’s really catchy. A real blast from the not so distant past.
Womanizer – Britney Spears
Womanizer was Britney’s comeback hit after her troubles and very public meltdown in 2007. When the song came out, the world was relieved to have Britney back.
Burnin’ Up – Jonas Brothers
We would love a Jonas Brothers reunion! You will even spot a young Selena Gomez in the music video.
When I Grow Up – The Pussycat Dolls
Sex on Fire – Kings of Leon
Okay best for last! There is no denying the amount we want to dance and sing along to this goodie. Who remembers hearing this for the first time? “What did they just say on the radio?”. Still a good one.
Which song was your ultimate favourite? We really struggled to pick one!
