A group for South African expats living abroad and ready to come home has sparked inspiration for anyone ready to return and in need of help.
“Homeward Bound or Hoping” is an incredibly helpful group for South Africans living abroad and looking to move back home. The group offers advice and support to families and individuals ready to make the move home after living around the globe.
Often, when one lives away from home, they tend to only hear the bad things which can be discouraging. Living away for long periods of time can also lead to being out of touch with the way things work or which the best service providers may be.
The Homeward Bound group acts as a forum to help people make the move back home. Any question is open for discussion as long as it promotes a hopeful and positive outlook about South Africa. The only rule is no posting horror stories.
Sometimes a person is just looking for some reassurance in their final decision.

They share info on moving companies, how to get pets home and even offer to personally help when possible. The group is always at its most inspiring when South Africa is having a hard time.

Trish Riley, a new member of the group shared a hopeful message about settling back into things in South Africa. She felt good that her chosen town was working hard to better itself and she couldn’t wait to be a part of it all.
“I have been back in KZN for a month after 14 years in the UK. I loved the UK, but know this is the right time to be home. Many good things happening in our growing town on Howick – Love Howick’s renoverge project is working at cleaning up the verges in the town, the Dream Centre is helping young folk to get into work, the Casual Gardener is making a difference at the Falls site. So encouraging to see… I am a very happy granny who is about to finally learn Zulu”
