Shaun Boshoff was travelling through Vereeniging with his father to view a motorbike when they spotted a family being swept away by a flash flood.
The power of our readers always surprises us. Within just 1 hour of posting the original story about the flood hero, you guys helped us track him down. Meet Shaun Boshoff.
Shaun Boshoff is your average 20-year-old guy, he has a passion for motorbikes and is currently studying at TSC Pretoria West Campus. The day he was photographed helping a family in need was just another day for him and his father.
The pair were on their way to view a motorbike when they saw the car being swept up by the flood. Without hesitation, Shaun sprung from his father’s bakkie and went to help the trapped father and daughter.
“We were on our way to go view a bike when we saw the car stuck and as we stopped at the traffic light my mother noticed that there were people stuck in the vehicle”
I jumped out my dad’s bakkie without hesitation and ran over were I saw that they were stuck A Father and his daughter. I walked through the water and saw the car was flooded inside and the girl panicking inside struggling to get out. I then helped the girl out hurling her over my shoulder and carrying her out of harm’s way then helped the father get out aswell.”
The humble young man felt it was a deed like no other and once he knew the father and daughter were safe, he climbed back in the car and carried on with his day.
South Africa feels that you Shaun, are a hero and we completely agree!
