A man was pictured saving a woman from rising floodwaters in Vereeniging, Johannesburg and now SA wants to find this hero and honour him.
The first big rain of the season has once again brought along with it, flash floods. It happens every year and every year, someone gets swept up in it all. Thankfully every year there are also the heroes that help those swept away by the floods.
During the flash floods of November 2016, a group formed a human chain to save the lives of people being swept away. Just over a year later in 2017, a man in Durban was hailed as a hero for his efforts in saving an elderly woman surrounded by rising flood water. Another man was also a hero when he helped a woman during the floods in Pretoria last year.
The one thing we can always count on this time of year is that the truest heroes, the ones without capes, rise up and save lives. Once again as the flood water rapidly rose, a woman in Vereeniging found her car slipping away with the water. Panic set in as she was washed up on the roadside, water gushing in everywhere.
Commuters stopped to take photos of a man who waded through the flood current to help the trapped woman. The SA Long-Distance Truckers Facebook page shared the image of the man with the request to please come forward so he could be honoured.
South Africans have been praising the hero for his spirit of Ubuntu and calling for him to come forward.
