A troop of Gorillas were recently filmed taking shelter from the rain and trying to manoeuvre their way back to their shelter indoors; it is so cute!
South Carolina, United States – The Riverbanks Zoo and Garden have a troop of Gorillas that live there. The troop has been blessed with the birth of a few new babies. The area is currently experiencing their spring rainfall which is proving to be quite the nuisance to the troop.
The troop is made up of several gorillas from different parts of Africa, so they are not unaccustomed to rains. While they do live with showers, they don’t have to like it, which they don’t!
“Western lowland gorillas are found in the tropical rainforests of West Africa, including southwest Nigeria, Cameroon, Rio Muni, Gabon and eastern Congo. Eastern lowland gorillas inhabit lowland forests over 625 miles away in eastern DR Congo. Mountain gorillas, the best known and most often studied race, are only found among the Virunga volcanoes of extreme northeastern DR Congo, western Uganda and northern Rwanda. They live on mountain floors and secondary forests with damp, hot climates, similar to a South Carolina summer.”
The zoo shared a clip of the gorillas taking shelter from the rain and looking for a way to get away from it. The funny gorillas peer around the corner to see if their shelter is open and then take turns running for safety.
According to Brooke Hunsinger, a zookeeper at the zoo, the gorillas are magnificent, majestic creatures full of grace and beauty… except when it rains.
