News24 compiled a list of 100 people who are the future Young Mandelas of South Africa… and Brent Lindeque and a number of our favourite people were selected!!!
Johannesburg, South Africa – We get the honour of writing good news every single day, inspiring the nation with every word. It is a great gift and something we do with pride. So when we get the chance to write something good about one of our team members, the pride we have is tenfold!
Yesterday was a busy day at the Good Things Guy offices, Mandela Day always brings with it an influx of information which requires full commitment. On top of that, we have many other balls to juggle so naturally, we miss a few things here and there.
It wasn’t until close of business that we realised something very exciting had happened…
Our team leader, editor in chief and all-around Good Things Guy Brent Lindeque was selected as one of 100 Young Mandelas of the future. News24 compiled a list of people who inspire South Africa and have virtues similar to those of the late Nelson Mandela.
There is no greater honour than being compared to a man who brought a country together after hardship and went on to inspire the entire world.
Adriaan Basson wrote the preface article to the list and felt that the 100 selected South Africans inspired him with hopefulness.
“Weary and tired of our daily struggles, we have started to question the ideals our late former president Nelson Mandela fought for.
As I read through the profiles of 2019’s 100 Young Mandelas, chosen by News24’s journalists, I felt shame for feeling cynicism and despair. Because they have reminded me that regardless of the failures in our political and social arena, there is always a reason to believe in our great nation.
These 100 young people, chosen from hundreds more nominations, remind us that the characteristics Mandela embodied; compassion, creativity, leadership, vision and resilience, are still thriving today.”

A Mother in Awe as Her Daughter Finds Her Voice Through ECDWe are so proud of Brent, for all the hard work he puts in. Most of you won’t know this, but he puts his all into running this website. His dream is to inspire every single South African to see the country as he does. To be filled with love and hope.
We, as a team, are honoured to walk beside him as he achieves these great things. When asked about being added to the list, Brent felt honoured to be named amongst such an incredible group of people.
“I am totally overwhelmed and it is an incredible honour to be put into the same category of such an amazing group of extraordinary South Africans.
My dream has always been to change the narrative of our beautiful country, to inspire people to see the other side of our news and to remind everyone how to be proudly South African again. Accolades like this are a reminder to me that I am on the right path, and doing the right thing. Madiba left an amazing legacy, for me he left the world better than he found it.
Good Things Guy continues to grow every day and hopefully one day my legacy will be the same. Leaving the world just a little better than I found it.”
The 100 Young Mandelas of the Future were placed into five categories. Compassion, Creativity, Leadership, Resilience and Vision. It was also exhilarating to see a number of our favourite people listed besides Brent.
