South Africa (23 February 2022)Lurina Fourie has been living with type 1 diabetes since she was 16 years old. Through her journey, she has been sharing her experience to make it easier for others. She recently celebrated 22 years with Type 1 and decided to create a dictionary dedicated to helping others with diabetes.

Lurina has come a long way since her diagnosis at age 16. Over the years, she has developed a knack for sharing and has become an ambassador for the disease.

Sweet Life, a South African diabetes organisation, is hosting the dictionary so people can easily download it for free.

Sweet Life is a diabetes community that informs, inspires and connects people with diabetes in South Africa. They give access to expert advice about diabetes and provide access to a community of South Africans with diabetes.

“Just because you have diabetes, doesn’t mean you can’t live a happy, healthy life.” – Sweet Life

You can download the dictionary here. Lurina explained that it was a project she worked on for some time leading up to the 22nd anniversary of her diagnosis. She wants it to be a fun resource for those still navigating their own diagnosis and new lifestyle.

Lurina also runs a support group, so if you would like to join, you can do so here.
