By gathering its Youth Skills Development alumni for the first time, the Amy Foundation is celebrating a powerful milestone that highlights the impact of its youth programmes in creating lasting pathways to employment and financial independence for young people.
Cape Town, South Africa (25 June 2026) – Empowering young people is at the heart of the Amy Foundation SA’s mission.
Countless young people have walked through its doors to join programmes that have not only helped them make positive life choices but also become contributing members of society and realise dreams they thought were out of reach.
Now, for the first time, the Amy Foundation will be hosting Youth Skills Development (YSD) Alumni Events to mark a significant milestone in the organisation’s commitment to empowering young people and creating sustainable pathways to employment and economic participation.
The events, with the first having already taken place on 23 June and the next on 8 July 2026, bring together former Youth Skills Development Programme participants, partners, employers, staff, and supporters to celebrate the achievements of alumni and reflect on the lasting impact of the programme over the years.
For the first time, graduates from different cohorts will reunite to share their personal and professional journeys since completing the programme. Their stories provide powerful evidence of how targeted skills development, mentorship, and industry exposure can transform lives and strengthen communities.
Many alumni have successfully secured employment within the hospitality and tourism sectors, while others have pursued further education, launched entrepreneurial ventures, or established meaningful careers in various industries.
Their successes demonstrate the value of investing in young people and providing opportunities that foster long-term growth and self-sufficiency.
“One of the greatest joys of this programme is seeing young people discover their potential and go on to build meaningful futures for themselves and their families. Our alumni are living proof that when opportunity, support, and determination come together, lives are transformed. These events are a celebration of their resilience, growth, and the incredible journeys that continue long after they leave our programme,” says Hilary George, Youth Skills Development Programme Manager.
Michelle Bagley, COO, added that the alumni events are about more than celebrating achievements.
“They are an opportunity to showcase the long-term impact of youth development initiatives and to honour the partnerships that have made these successes possible. Every graduate represents a story of resilience, determination, and potential realised.”
A key focus of the events will be highlighting the importance of sustainable impact within the non-profit sector. By reconnecting with alumni and tracking their progress beyond programme completion, the Amy Foundation continues to demonstrate how investment in youth development contributes to improved employment outcomes, economic participation, and stronger communities.
The Foundation also acknowledges the invaluable support of Makwande Empowerment Trust, whose partnership has played a pivotal role in enabling hundreds of young people to access training, personal development opportunities, and career pathways.
The alumni gatherings will feature inspiring testimonials, networking opportunities, programme reflections, and discussions on how former beneficiaries can continue contributing to the development of future generations of youth.
The events will take place at the Amy Foundation’s headquarters in Sybrand Park, Cape Town, from 10:00 to 12:00 on both dates.
As the Amy Foundation continues to expand its impact, these inaugural alumni events represent the beginning of a growing network of young leaders, professionals, and entrepreneurs who embody the organisation’s vision of creating positive change through education, skills development, and opportunity.
