Angel Network Kicks Off Winter Campaign to Keep Destitute Warm

It may only be Autumn but the chill is well and truly creeping in; The Angel Network has launched its annual Winter campaign to help keep those on the streets, warm.

Johannesburg, South Africa (09 May 2024) – Another winter is on the way, which gives us another chance to make sure someone who calls the streets home doesn’t have to go through the long, cold nights without comfort or care.

Winter is almost here, with the official winter solstice happening on the 21st of June, the cold nights are already here, which means there are people who may be struggling to keep warm. The Angel Network started its annual winter comfort drive in the hope of helping fight back that cold.

The Angel Network has launched its annual winter campaign to provide warm care packs to homeless people within their regions. The care pack is designed to be compact, while giving warmth to the person who needs it.

“It’s that time of year again where many of us get cosy under our electric blankets or warm ourselves with hot water bottles and thermal underwear. Sadly, for hundreds of thousands of people, the approach of winter is terrifying when home is a park bench or a piece of cardboard on the pavement. Please help us provide some comfort to so many so that they too can feel cosy, warm and remembered during the coming cold months.”

Each care pack contains a sleeping bag, pillow, blanket and warm meal (usually in the form of soup packets). Each pack needs costs R360.00 to fill, and it will last the recipient an entire winter season and beyond.

The campaign has been a success time and time again, and now that the cold is here to stay, the packs are being made up to be handed out to people in need.
