What started as a simple mission, to care for children while parents are at work, has become a safe space where futures are planted and nurtured.

Tshwane, South Africa (16 September 2025) – Not every hero wears a cape… some pack lunchboxes, plant veggies, and make sure tiny humans are safe, fed, and thriving. This week on Good Things with Brent Lindeque, we travelled to the outskirts of Pretoria East to meet the powerhouse duo behind TNG Day Care, Notombi and Tebogo, who’ve built more than just a day care centre in Boschkop. They’ve created a joyful, nurturing space where little ones are not only cared for, but truly seen, heard and given the best start to life.

Yes, they offer care for children from just three months old all the way to six years. And yes, there are joyful playtimes, structured learning and nutritious meals. But it’s more than that, it’s a place where small humans are nurtured, protected and empowered to thrive.

They even grow their own vegetables! The kids get stuck in, digging, planting, watering… and learning about food, nature and also about responsibility, teamwork and patience. These are life lessons wrapped in muddy fingers and giggles.

And while they’re doing that, their parents are able to go to work, knowing their children are in safe, loving hands.

Notombi and Tebogo have created something beautiful in Boschkop. As a registered NPO, TNG Day Care runs on heart, purpose and the drive to make a difference… for an incredibly low monthly fee that still includes pick-ups, drop-offs, learning, playing and full tummies.

This episode is part of our Budget Insurance x Good Things Guy partnership, where we shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes you’ve nominated. Because of this partnership, we get to celebrate the organisations quietly doing the most and give them a little love and airtime too.
