Just off the busy Sandton streets stands the Investec building; today, however, the name appears a little different… “Invested”, it reads. The symbolic gesture may only be for a few weeks, but its impact is long-term.

Sandton, South Africa (07 July 2025) – For Investec, the simple act of changing one letter demonstrates just how deeply invested the company is in South Africa. In a temporary yet powerful move, the company is dropping the “c” to show it is “Invested”. This incredible swap was unveiled this morning at the Sandton office, where the signage underwent a makeover and has already sparked a conversation about what it means to be deeply invested in our country.

The leading international bank and wealth manager is using the temporary change to showcase what it stands for, reaffirm its beliefs, and inspire renewed confidence in South Africa.

“This small but meaningful change is not a rebrand – it’s a reminder,” says Cumesh Moodliar, CEO of Investec South Africa.

“For over five decades, this commitment has shaped the way we do business and how we show up – not just in the boardroom, but in society at large. Our purpose has always been to create enduring worth, and it’s through being deeply invested that we make this real. Deeply invested in people, potential, progress and the country we call home – South Africa.”

For the past 50 years, Investec has played a significant role in the lives of people, industry, communities and the country, in various ways. The temporary signage swap is being implemented to highlight these important stories, which you may not be aware of.

Being deeply invested in South Africa means supporting some of the most important causes close to the nation’s heart, as well as those that serve the public interest. From empowering teachers to funding school sports, maths and science programmes, and that’s only the beginning. Investec is also committed to transformation in the financial sector, being deeply invested in the integrity and trust of the sector. The team has recently launched the Market Surveillance Code of Conduct, a collaborative initiative setting standards for ethical trading, transparency, and global alignment.

Beyond the feel-good elements and supporting the financial sector, the brand hopes to rally South Africa to get back to business. There is a clear and urgent proposition: South Africa needs to rebuild business confidence. Why? Because this is how we boost the economy and further invest in the country and all who live here.

A recent Investec Wealth & Investment International report highlights that the country needs real GDP growth of 3% to 5%. History tells us that the period in which SA experienced its highest levels of GDP growth coincided with a period of record-level business confidence.

It is through South African business confidence that we can unlock investment, create jobs, and drive inclusive growth that benefits both households and the markets.

When businesses are deeply invested in the causes and community around them, that is when South Africa wins.

Over the coming weeks, a collection of stories will be shared on the Investec platform. These stories are about supporting rhino orphans, helping paralympians get to the games, connecting unemployed youths to meaningful employment, and so much more. These stories showcase how invested Investec is in seeing South Africa shine.

“Being deeply invested in our people, our clients, our communities and our country – is not just a mindset. It’s the key to restoring trust, encouraging long-term investment, and shaping a more resilient, inclusive economy and future. Real impact is made not by reacting to change, but by being a catalyst for it. We can turn commitment into action, and action into impact,” Moodliar ends.
