On Heritage Day, Castle Lager’s Heritage of Craft film celebrates 130 years of golden bubbles and the artistry of capturing South Africa’s sporting memories.

South Africa (24 September 2025) – Happy Heritage Day, South Africa! Join us as we celebrate the Heritage of Craft, from the golden bubbles of a Castle Lager, to the art of capturing South Africa’s favourite sporting moments and preserving them for years to come.

Today sees the launch of Castle Lager’s ‘Heritage of Craft’ mini documentary, celebrating the craft of creating lasting memories and timeless beer since 1895. Photographer Vino Snap works with a centuries-old camera, capturing lasting memories of sports, while photography lab technician Dennis Da Silva transforms those memories into timeless photos.

The craft of both photographer and technician honours sports in a beautiful way, capturing teams, fans and more. All to celebrate our heritage today.

“Today is Heritage day, where all South Africans are encouraged to celebrate their culture and the diversity of their beliefs and traditions, in the wider context of a nation that belongs to all its people.” – Thomas Lawrence, Brand Director Castle Lager

‘We partnered with viral, photographic sensation – Vino Snap, Mzansi’s most decorated Black & White printer, with over 45 years of experience – Dennis da Silva, and Newlands Brewery Plant Manager – Kyle Moskovitz – to bring this story to life over the past 14 months.’

The camera used was made in 1895, the same date as the founding of Castle. While technology may have advanced and cameras may look very different, the beer remains the same beloved beverage it has been all these years later.

Lawrence concludes, ‘Over the past 130 years, tools have changed, processes have evolved, but the one thing that has remained consistent – that South African consumers can always trust – is the taste of a cold and delicious Castle Lager.’
