Centane police officer, Constable Azile Nxokwana, has won the hearts of her community and a viral public commendation, simply by treating every visitor to the station with genuine humility, patience, and respect.
Eastern Cape, South Africa (29 June 2026) – While going about what to her was just a regular day at work, Constable Azile Nxokwana, stationed at the Centane Police Station, caught the attention of a local resident for serving those visiting the station with genuine humility, respect, and professionalism.
In a time where police-community relations are often strained and highly controversial, the 30-year-old’s quiet dedication cut through the noise, earning her rare and well-deserved public praise.
In a now-viral Facebook post, Veliswa Mambanjwa Mvenya shared her experience after spending roughly two hours at the station on Tuesday, 23 June. She warmly detailed how she witnessed Constable Nxokwana treat every single community member with patience, respect, and efficiency – all without a single complaint.
“I didn’t even know her name when I took the photo,” Mvenya wrote.
“I just knew this is what a real public servant looks like.”
Nxokwana, who joined the SAPS in 2024 as part of a graduate recruitment drive to professionalise service delivery, holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Psychology and Sociology from Walter Sisulu University. She credits her studies for helping her de-escalate tense situations and listen actively to complainants.
Eastern Cape’s top cop, Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Vuyisile Ncata, upon learning of the post, praised Cst Nxokwana’s exemplary service and praised her as a benchmark for frontline service.
“Her conduct sets a high standard. She reminded us that the uniform is not about authority; it is about accountability to the people we serve,” said Lt Gen Ncata.
“I wish we had more officers of her calibre in every precinct across the Eastern Cape.”
Community members who commented on the original Facebook post echoed the sentiment, with several sharing their own positive experiences at the Centane station – a rare wave of support for local law enforcement.
“One officer can change the perception of an entire station. Constable Nxokwana has done exactly that,” a proud Lt Gen Ncata added.
