Communities continue to unite to build a better South Africa; these community action groups, clean-up initiatives, and more make all the difference!

South Africa (23 January 2025) – The old adage “Many hands make light work” is found to be true time and time again in South Africa. Where service delivery fails, people take up the gauntlet, and things happen! Challenge accepted, they say! No more, they say! United we stand, they say!

Community action groups are changing the way South Africans see things like potholes, overgrown curbs, filthy beaches and waste management (to name but a few). These groups are taking matters into their own hands and uplifting communities in the process.

Whether they focus solely on cleaning beaches, restoring rivers, collecting litter, mowing lawns or maintaining roads, these organisations unite communities in efforts to make South Africa a better place.

These groups are funded by local businesses, big and small, private donors, eager volunteers and sometimes even local municipalities. It is always inspiring to see just how much gets done when the community makes it happen. These organisations make us proud every time we share one of their projects.

Below, we have shared all the community projects and action groups working to make a difference.

Please note that this is a working list, so keep sending through your charities and groups, and we will keep adding them!
