Dementia

Erik Swanson and his friends did an incredible act of kindness for an elderly man with advanced dementia; they helped him catch one last wave.

York, Pennsylvania – Erik Swanson and a group of his friends were bodyboarding together at the beach when they were approached by an older woman who had a request.

The woman pointed to her husband and asked if the guys could help him catch a wave. She went on to explain that he had advanced dementia and was unlikely to see the year out. The guys quickly agreed and assisted the elderly man catch waves.

The video of them helping him has since gone viral with over 6.3 million views and moved the world to tears!

“So today at the beach an older woman approached our group and asked if we would help her with her husband. She said he has bad Dementia and likely has less than a year to live. She said he told her he wanted to boogie board one last time… like he used to do when he was younger.

So proud of my family and friends who didn’t hesitate to make this happen. Very cool and touching moment. Will never forget the joy on the man’s face”

Take a look at the beautiful act of kindness below. Our hearts are melting, and the tears are welling up a little, so grab a tissue.
