DF Akademie has shared the live performance that earned its choir the title of South Africa’s Best Mixed Choir at the national ATKV Applous competition.

DF Akademie’s choir has shared its winning performance after being crowned South Africa’s Best Mixed Choir at the national ATKV Applous competition.
The choir claimed top honours in the prestigious mixed choir category before releasing a recording of its performance, filmed live at the historic Cape Town City Hall.
The performance features Planete, a composition by Danie du Toit of Spoegwolf, arranged by renowned choral conductor André van der Merwe.
Sharing the video, the school thanked parents, supporters and its wider school community for standing behind the choir throughout its journey to the national title.
The school also congratulated the many choirs that took part in the competition, saying their shared passion for music continues to bring people together.
Quoting former President Nelson Mandela, the school added: “Music is the great uniter. It has the power to connect people, regardless of where they come from.”
