Nine SPCAs in the City of Ekurhuleni will be given access to a portion of an R2-million grant which will be used to fix up facilities and support the teams working to save animals.
Ekuhuleni, South Africa (02 March 2022) – The SPCA relies on donations from the public and corporations; the work they do is vital for animal welfare in communities around South Africa.
The SPCA is an incredible organisation that works throughout South Africa to save all animals. Each province has at least one SPCA, and each SPCA branch is solely responsible for managing its resources, fundraising and collaborating with the community.
The City of Ekurhuleni decided to create a “Grant-In-Aid” of R2-million, which will be divided between nine SPCAs within the municipality.
The funds are to be used to address any challenges the organisations may face.
“The allocated grant will be distributed across the nine SPCA facilities in the city for the well-being of animals under the organisation’s care. Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Corporate, Legal and Shared Services, Cllr Ruhan Robinson, on Monday, 28 February, conducted a site visit to the Boksburg SPCA branch to assess the needs and challenges that will be addressed by the money allocated”
This is excellent news for the nine organisations, but there are many more in South Africa that could use a little support. So if you would like to do a food or blanket drive, approach your local school, business or friends to start collecting.
