Ntoto the Rhino and Charlie the Hippo are animal besties! Their friendship is unique and maybe even the cutest animal friends we have ever seen! Watch their sweet interactions in the one-of-a-kind video.
Mpumalanga, South Africa (15 February 2017) – Helping Rhinos is a UK and USA-based charity working on projects around the world to help conserve the 5 species of rhino that still survive today. At one of their locations in South Africa, they care for a handful of orphaned rhinos. They also have a sweet little hippo who has become great friends with the other orphans.
Ntoto and Charlie were filmed during one of their hangouts. In the video, you can see that Charlie loves the chin scratches from Ntoto. The young orphans make a really cute pair.
Ntoto was found in May this year when he was just 4.5 months old, his mother had been poached in Mpumalanga. The reserve vet was called and it took 6 whole days to catch him.
He was a strong feisty little boy and he had done an excellent job in looking after himself in the wild – surviving on only water and nibbling on grass – but due to his age he was in desperate need of milk and nutrition, and his stomach was constipated due to him having to digest only solids.
Thankfully Ntoto is now safe, back to health and with the other orphans who’s stories are all too similar to his.
