Riding high after finishing the year with a commanding win, the team prepares to showcase their skills and leadership in the upcoming series against Pakistan.

South Africa (06 January 2025) – The Proteas Women may have wrapped up 2025 with a solid six-wicket win over Ireland, but their focus is already firmly on the year ahead. Anchored by captain Laura Wolvaardt, who reached her century with the winning run, the team closed out the year with confidence and momentum.

As 2026 begins, the squad is gearing up for a three-match T20 and ODI series against Pakistan, set to challenge South Africa at home from late February to early March. The visiting side is expected to bring their best game yet, ensuring the Proteas will need every bit of strategy and teamwork to start the year on a high.

The final ODI, scheduled for 1 March in Durban, will also carry a powerful social message. Known as the annual Black Day, the Proteas Women will don black kits to raise awareness on gender based violence.

South African football legend, Itumeleng Khune, attended the Ireland match and praised the growth of women’s sport in South Africa.

“The growth of women’s sport has been incredible. Seeing these women compete at the highest level is inspiring. Sport has the power to unite, and I’m here to celebrate their victories.”

“We shouldn’t limit ourselves to one code. I’ve started following women’s cricket and the younger age groups too because the talent and passion are incredible. I want to see them win and celebrate.”

All eyes are on the Proteas Women as they enter this exciting series, with both their skill and the support of South African sports fans helping to shape the next chapter of women’s cricket.
