On Saturday, Sunset Beach will come alive with people who are ready to bash some trash, make new friends and enjoy a view they all helped beautify ahead of Earth Day.
Milnerton, South Africa (17 April 2025) — Capetonians are getting a head start on Earth Day activities and celebrations thanks to the Two Oceans Aquarium Trash Bash team. Set to take place at Milnerton’s Sunset Beach, those who wish to bash some trash alongside them are cordially invited.
“Beach cleanups such as Trash Bash are the perfect Earth Day activity, bringing the community together to interrupt the cycle of pollution,” says Heather Wares, Two Oceans Aquarium Communications Manager.
“With their nature as a collective community effort, Trash Bash has an enormous potential impact on environmental education and behaviour change. The ocean needs us, and we want to make a difference.”
The event will ring in Earth Day in the most effective way, and those looking to participate are encouraged to spread the word to friends and family.
Here, you’ll find yourself treasure hunting for trash, and will see first-hand just how problematic plastic is. So, if there’s an environmental skeptic in your life, this might just be the event that turns them into eco-warrior.
