While the fires raged in Plettenberg Bay people gathered down at the beach to watch the beautiful release of a group of rescued penguins.
The crowds slowly gathered down at the beach of Plettenberg Bay on Saturday morning to watch a beautiful release. The release was of five rehabilitated penguins. This was the first release of it’s kind for the Tenikwa Wildlife Centre!
“While we are surrounded by ravaging fires, we had this quiet calm moment of bliss this morning when we released these endangered African penguins off the coast of Plettenberg Bay this morning for the first time in history 😊.”
“We have been rehabilitating them at Tenikwa Wildlife Centre over the past few months after being washed up on various places for different reasons including traumatic injuries and disease.”
The Plettenberg area has been ravaged with fires but this sweet video makes one feel hope! The post also urged the public to support the Moya Animal Outreach, where affected animals are being sent to recover and wait for their owners.
One Facebook fan had a very moving message of thanks to share with the Tenikwa Wildlife Centre.
“At first, you feel frightened for them and you want to run, herd them back and keep them safe. But then, they look around unsure and towards the ocean and you see the excitement. The next moment they’re no longer afraid or confused and they’re home. All because of you, your passion, dedication and patience. You made this happen. Thank you 💕” – Lize Muller
