Blue-Eyed Elephant

Rob the Ranger was filming a herd of elephants chasing a hyena off from a giraffe carcass. The herd was very large and amongst them, a blue-eyed beauty!

With a rumble that sends chills down your spine, the matriarch elephant made it known to a rogue hyena, to get lost! The hyena, of course, sprinted around the herd and continued to try its luck to get to the giraffe carcass seen briefly in the background.

The focus of the video was to show how the elephants protect their young from predators. During the viewing, Ranger Rob spotted something incredibly rare.

One of the older elephants had striking pale blue eyes.

“One member of this rather large elephant herd has very pale blue eyes, the herd is seen here getting upset and chasing some hyenas that want to feed on a fallen giraffe. The elephant herd is also a bit on edge due to the presence of a large bull elephant in musth. Filmed in the Sabi Sand Wildtuin, Greater Kruger National Park, South Africa”

Along with the presence of a hyena, there was a large bull hanging around in musth, which makes him equally as dangerous. He can be spotted by the wet patches on the sides of his head. Bulls in musth are highly aggressive and can be set off easily.

In the end, the entire herd wedged itself between the hyena and the giraffe.

This is one incredible wildlife sighting! Watch it below.
