A Tourist was told to ‘stay calm’ after a Cheetah hopped in to check out his vehicle.
A group of tourists who were on a safari in Tanzania got more than they bargained for when a cheetah hopped into their vehicle for a closer look.
In a video which has gone viral, captured by photographer Peter Heistein, the curious cheetah is seen on a back seat in the vehicle, sniffing around and checking it out. Despite that sounding like a terrifying situation, the people in the vehicle look pretty calm and handled the encounter like pros.
According to CNN, Britton Hayes was on a safari with his step-uncle in the Serengeti in Tanzania when a cheetah hopped into their vehicle. The cheetah was one of three brothers the group had been observing, but it sounds like the cheetah got curious and wanted to do some observing of his own. Can you blame him, though?
Hayes said the group’s safari guide told them to remain calm, stay quiet and to avoid making eye contact with the cheetah, and after about 10 minutes, the cheetah wandered off.
He added that when it happened, he thought he was “going to die”, and he could not believe he survived the situation.
“I was scared to death, but I’ve never felt more alive,” said Mr Hayes.
The video of the encounter was posted on Facebook by his mother, Ms Elisa Jaffe, with the caption “I see people posting pics of their family vacations on the beach and at the theme park but not my family…”.
