Dave van Graan has embarked on a not-so-little walkabout that’ll take him through the demanding stretch of Namibia that the Dorsland trekkers took hundreds of years before, all for animal welfare!
Namibia (23 January 2025) — Dave van Graan is putting one foot in front of the other for animal welfare once again, thanks to an epic walkabout spanning around 1375 kilometres.
No stranger to not-so-little walkabouts with good causes at the finish line, Dave’s January-February edition is set to be his most challenging yet—the Dorsland Trek.
Weaving through Namibia, the Dorsland Trek will see Dave venture toward the Khaudum National Park, near the North of the Etosha Pan and all the way to Swartbooisdrift at the Angola border. Not only will Dave be putting his legs to a serious test, he’ll also faced added endurance on account of the resource cart companion he must push.
The route, known for its sandy isolation, wild animals and lack of water resources, is no kind of journey. But, for Dave, it’s a worthy challenge that he hopes will support the SPCA Louis Trichardt.
Dave hopes that his grit will inspire others to spare shelter animals more kindness, consideration and awareness. Donations for the SPCA spurred by his trek are an added bonus, while any sponsorships for his effort are welcome to see him through.
Dave’s journey began at Rietfontien on Monday and will wind into February. All wishing to keep up with his walkabout can follow his InReach profile here.
