Armed with plastic bags and determination, residents, organisations, and the municipality worked tirelessly to restore their community.

Durban, South Africa (04 September 2024) – The Wentworth community in Durban united for a massive clean-up campaign, transforming a once-litter-strewn area into a clean and refreshed space on Tuesday, 3 September.

The Heal Wentworth organisation, along with the South Durban Community Environmental Alliance (SDCEA), the municipality and community members, worked tirelessly to remove piles of rubbish at the Austerville Community Hall and nearby Hime Street flats and park to restore the area’s beauty.

What had become a once-dismal area was transformed into a clean and vibrant space.

“After our Austerville Community Hall cleanup on Percy Johnston Road, Heal Wentworth lent a hand in the Hime Street flats and park.

“A very big thanks to SDCEA for all the amazing work they had already performed for the community before we even arrived to help, and thank you to the residents for their assistance and support,” shared Heal Wentworth.

Heal Wentworth is a dedicated non-profit community organisation committed to the restoration and enrichment of the community of Wentworth.

Everyone’s involvement in lending a helping hand and filling a rubbish bag showcases the power of community unity and dedication to environmental preservation.
