An Elephant is making news headlines in Belfast after an Irish tourist uploaded a video showing how the mammal charged the game-viewing vehicle.
Josie Campbell, from Ardboe near Cookstown, Co Tyrone, was on her ‘dream holiday’ with four friends when the elephant came within inches of charging into their vehicle.
The group were enjoying a tour around Kruger National Safari Park when they encountered the Elephant.
Josie was filming the grazing animal from their truck when suddenly the giant animal ran towards the vehicle.
In the video you can see the elephant looking towards the truck full of tourists and getting a little bit ‘excited’ as the truck comes closer. One of the tourists notice that “he looks cross”, before the elephant starts picking up speed, coming towards them at a pace.
When they get away a woman yells “my god that was close” before all packing up with laughter.
The quick-thinking driver quickly sped up to get away in what Josie herself describes as a “close” encounter but luckily no one was hurt.
After uploading the video to her Facebook it has had more than 5,000 views and has been shared widely.
Having just returned home from her trip and realised how much interest the video has gathered online, Josie says they can see the funny side.
