Western Cape, South Africa (29 December 2024) – Cape Town’s iconic Table Mountain is once again the scene of immense bravery and determination as firefighting teams and aerial resources from SANParks’ Table Mountain National Park Fire Management have lept into action to combat a blaze on its front face.

Firefighters are working tirelessly to contain the fire, while SANParks rangers and the City of Cape Town’s Law Enforcement officials ensure public safety and manage visitor control in the area.

In the interest of safety, the Platteklip Gorge trail and Contour Path across the front face of the mountain have been temporarily closed. Visitors are advised to avoid these areas and adhere to safety guidelines, including avoiding the upper cable station until further notice.
