The Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital directors Dr Karin Lourens and Wendy Willson will be hosting a charity talk to raise funds to tackle wildlife crime in South Africa.

Johannesburg, South Africa (23 November 2023) – In the pursuit of justice for wildlife in South Africa, the phenomenal directors of the Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital (JWVH), Dr Karin Lourens and Wendy Willson, are hosting a charity talk, and sharing their insights into getting justice for wildlife.

The wildlife hospital has seen it all! They are the go-to place for the treatment of indigenous wildlife especially in cases when animals have been poached, used within the wildlife trade or bred for the same purpose, and rescued from human-induced accidents. Over the years, the team have developed protocols for these cases, aiding in evidence collecting and so much more!

The JWVH is the leading specialist for the treatment of trafficked pangolins, only becoming so through the never-ending cycle of poaching in South Africa and needing to develop treatment protocols for the extremely sensitive species.

The charity talk will take place on the 30th of November 2023 at the Inside Out Centre for the Arts. You can get your tickets here and find out more. The talk is called “End Of The Game, Or Is It?: Justice For Wildlife In South Africa”

“South Africa’s wildlife heritage is under threat, and small indigenous wildlife species are sometimes overlooked in our justice system. Without proper prosecution, illegal activities persist. Our hospital has already made progress in ensuring the risk of illegal activities and ill-treatment of animals far outweighs rewards, and we’re not done yet!

Join directors Dr Karin Lourens and Wendy Willson to learn more about protecting and prosecuting wildlife crime and cruelty.”

All funds raise will go directly to the wildlife hospital, to enable them to continue the work they do in saving, treating and returning wildlife to the wild.
