11-year-old Mackenzie Knott is the tiny queen of trails who has successfully completed the kind of mission that’s given many seasoned hikers a run for their money— the 13 Peaks Challenge! This little champ took on the tough task once again to fundraise milk money for orphaned baby rhinos:
Cape Town, South Africa (09 July 2024) — In the pursuit of climbing towards greater heights of hope for wildlife wellbeing, 11-year-old Mackenzie Knott has outdone herself. She’s recently wrapped up another 13 Peaks Challenge to raise funds for orphaned baby rhinos in an effort that’s become synonymous with support for Rhino Connect; making her the tiny queen of trails.
Although Kenzie has a way of making the 13 Peaks Challenge look easy, make no mistake: this is not a challenge even seasoned hikers (let alone children) take on at a whim (they are essentially the 13 toughest peaks in Cape Town). But, when taking into account the plight that orphaned wildlife face, the challenge becomes a lot more than a brave way to test one’s one gusto for people like Kenzie; instead acting as something of a roadmap of support for those who cannot hike for their own hopeful futures.
This 11-year-old has made her City beyond proud for the heart that acted as her compass, and for her impressive trail track record that’s taught many grown folk a lesson in taking action.
As a Fit 4 Rhinos ambassador, Kenzie’s love of little rhinos surpasses any tough trail or rocky walkway. This marks her fourth time completing the 13 Peaks Challenge, with last year standing proudly as the year she surpassed her fundraising goal for Rhino Connect.
Now that the trails are done and dusted and Kenzie can kick off her shoes, the call is out to all those she’s inspired to support her wish to help baby rhinos get the milk they urgently need to grow into great creatures of our land.
Her campaign is calling for R15,000 to procure milk and milk products for them as part of the #rememberthemilk campaign. Currently, R2,800 has been raised.
