After Midnight the dog found the roof of his beloved donated kennel broken; kindness swooped in to rebuild his little sanctuary.

Western Cape, South Africa (31 January 2025) — A dog named Midnight was recently reunited with his most precious belongings thanks to kind humans who went above and beyond.

Like many of us, Midnight is a big fan of his own space. So, when the Angel Project were able to gift Midnight his very own kennel thanks to the Purple Kennel Project, this dog was over the moon.

“Midnight absolutely adores his kennel,” the Angel Project team explain. “He shares a property with 7 other dogs and 5 cats and he is only too happy to retreat into his kennel when they all get too much for him.”

The Angel Project is a fantastic initiative that upcycles coffee pods into angel-inspired decor to raise funds for their vital animal welfare work in Matzikama, Vredendal and other neighbouring towns. With the nearest SPCA being over 200 km away in Mamesbury, Janine Storman-van Zyl and her team offer invaluable help to animals who otherwise wouldn’t have a fighting chance.

In Midnight’s case, his big need was the kennel. But, after the dog absolutely fell in love with his little home, shock struck when its roof fell apart due to someone on the property seemingly using it as a seat.

The team had two options. They could let anger at the act win, or they could choose to do what was best for Midnight. The latter triumphed.

Thanks to hard work from Erika and Stephan, the broken pieces were meticulously patched up and put back together!

“Midnight was besides himself with happiness to get his kennel back,” the Angel Project shared.

While Midnight’s situation is still somewhat an ongoing journey (the Angel Project have stepped up for him before with items like a rope runner only to return and find that it was no longer there and he had been tied to a tree via a rope), it still matters that there are people in his corner who continue to fight for the things he can’t fight for himself.

In this breath, Midnight’s fixed-up kennel is a trophy of kindness.
