Township puppy Fhatu found himself in a predicament. A foster home eagerly awaited him, but it was all the way in another town. In need of a ride and a little kindness, Fhatu’s luck turned for the best!
Hermanus, South Africa (05 February 2025) — A young puppy named Fhatu found himself in a situation many of us can relate to—he needed a ride to get somewhere very important.
Life had been a little rocky for the pup thus far. Despite once having a home in an informal settlement, he was given over to the Rescued Animal Drive team (R.A.D) as his owner was worried for his safety.
Because Fhatu and his sister chased people in the street, his owner worried that someone might hurt him should he find himself barking up the wrong tree with the wrong person. His owner knew he couldn’t stay in the enclosure and believed the best thing for her puppy was to give him a chance at finding a better home.
As such, R.A.D took Fhatu under their ever-generous wing and got started on finding a new home for Fhatu.
Good news came when a foster home was found for Fhatu, thanks to a woman named Christine. Now, the only thing standing in Fhatu’s way from his new, temporary haven was a ride.
Because Fhatu was all the way in Grabouw and his foster home in Hermanus, the R.A.D community quickly rallied to find out who could play Uber for the pup.
Kindness kicked into motion and hundreds of people spread the word—all to make sure a little dog got a lot of help.
The effort proved successful, with multiple offers to take Fhatu ‘home’. Cami ultimately ended up as the pup’s knight in shining armour to the joy of foster mom Christine and, of course, Fhatu.
Now, the call is out to find Fhatu a forever home! Those interested can contact loveisrescue@gmail.com.
