Snowy season is rolling in, with snowflakes and spottings already underway close to home!

Southern Africa (19 May, 2023)—If you love winter weather, we’ve got good news for you. Things are already cooling down across our stretch of Africa and snow lovers’ eyes and ears can perk up at knowing snowflakes and falls are close to home.

Southern Drakensberg, parts of the Eastern Cape and Lesotho are all enjoying or set to enjoy a snowflake coating, with other parts of SA stepping into the chill mode.

According to Vox Weather, forecasts reveal that SA will feel a sub-polar cold air, with snowfall beginning last night in some areas. It’s reported that the snow is set to be more than 10cm in certain areas like Lesotho’s mountains and Sani Pass.

And, the snow-appreciation pics have already started rolling in!

Here’s Where Snow Has Been Spotted Already

Semonkong Lodge, Lesotho

The lodge’s manager, Thabiso Nthotso captured snow-dusted roads while en route to Maseru in the Thaba Putsoa region. The lodge itself also enjoyed a sprinkle this morning as shared with Good Things Guy, marking the first snowfall of the season!
