Oh man, you’ve just gotta love how kids view the world. A Bedfordview school recently got some of their young learners to describe what they believed their moms do at work. The difference in their imaginative responses and their parents’ real job descriptions has us giggling!
Bedfordview, South Africa (19 April 2026) – Children say the most interesting things! Reddam House Bedfordview recently joined a playful social media challenge inviting children to describe what they believe their moms do at work. The difference between the children’s imaginative responses and their mothers’ real job descriptions was quite striking and frankly hilarious!
In a video shared on social media, the children innocently described their take of what they were convinced their parents do for a living, alongside their parents accurately detailing what it is they actually do. The contrast made for delightful viewing!
A boy said his mother cleans glasses and tables, while the mom’s response was that she was a photographer.
One girl wasn’t too far off the mark, saying her mother studied rocks. The mom’s response: A geophysicist, providing physics and geology to understand the Earth.
An adorable little girl was convinced that her mom simply played at home. The mom clarified she was a training and wellness specialist in financial services at a bank.
Another girl shared that her mom was in construction and had a PhD, and was quite spot on, with her mom confirming she was a professor and head of department for construction management and quantity surveying.
There were many more fun takes from little ones convinced their parents’ jobs required “making pancakes” or “working for trucks”. Their genuinely innocent descriptions versus the seriousness of their parents’ job titles was enough to have any viewer chuckling!
Children truly have the most fascinating perspectives, and we just love them for it!
