Beyond the world we can see with the naked eye, is a whole other world filled with billions, no wait… trillions of microscopic life forms. This is what seawater looks like…

The second we saw this picture we froze! It is like a “Where’s Wally” of the ocean. Essentially what we are looking at here is whale food but it really grossed us out and at the same time completely fascinated us. We were not alone either!

Many people who have seen the image have been both freaked and enthralled by it. Some calling it interesting or incredible and others feeling a little green in the face.

The microscopic image was taken by David Littschwager who used a single drop of seawater and magnified it 25 times. The image was then shared on Facebook and people cannot get enough of it.

Phyto and zooplankton, staple of the oceans!” – Sonskyn Druppel

That is why it has a salty taste…” – Arend Brink

I see gogo poo and wee”- Etienne De Villiers

I’m sure some of those creepy bugs must be good for our bodies in some way lol” – Byron Nicolaai

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water…” – Lyn Gartrell

Many on the group started asking what tap water would look like, then quickly changed their minds because living in ignorant bliss is better than questioning every time you open your tap.

Interesting! Wonder what a drop of tap water looks like?” – Hilly Tepper Mohr

Perhaps David can show magnified tap water. Do not know if we really want to see.” – Anne Müller

Dying to know, don’t wanna know” – Charlene Smith

How many creepy crawlies can you count? Thanks for sharing this incredible image, David!
