Missy has been at Dogtown since 2018, she has patiently waited for her forever home, and the day finally came; the team couldn’t wait to share her good news.
South Africa (29 November 2021) – Adoptions are what the Dogtown team dreams of every day, so when one of their long-time residents found a home, they were overjoyed. Missy has been at Dogtown since 2018 and will finally be the queen of her very own castle after being adopted.
Missy was rescued from an abusive home by a good samaritan. Unfortunately, they couldn’t keep her due to other dogs on the property, and so she was surrendered to Dogtown for rehoming. This is where her journey towards her new forever home began.
Despite coming from an abusive home, Missy presented with very few issues to be worked on. She was reactive to other dogs and jumped up against people. But she aced her basic manners, which sorted out her jumping issues, and after socialising, she could go on walks past other dogs without any issues.
Her new owner says that she is brilliant and has done well being around horses and people. She is receiving comments about how good Missy really is.
The adoption team at Dogtown team say that this adoption was different. The family applied to adopt Missy after seeing her profile on the website. Because they live in an apartment with no garden space and a low balcony wall, they were advised that she not be the ideal option. She has lots of energy, and they feared she would jump over the balcony.
Other dogs were suggested for adoption, but they were set on Missy and felt a deep connection with her. The team decided to visit the apartment for a play-date to see how she would fare in the apartment. She walked in, and it was as though she had come home. Missy had found her perfect home.
Missy’s furmom says she is doing amazingly well; she has settled in and become the best part of her day. She can’t believe how perfectly they are suited. Missy is the only furkid, queen of her castle.
For Missy, this is a very happy ending! There are many more perfectly adoptable dogs waiting for their turn at Dogtown. To make sure each dog has a very merry festive season, the team encourages the public to support one of their dogs during the year-end.
